Inspired by Mom It Forward’s Girl Night Out (#gno), Renee Trudeau’s book Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life, and the Mama’s Coach’s Self Renewal Party, I am hosting my first Self-Renewal Party for Moms on Twitter.

WHAT: During this self-renewal party for moms, we are going to look at me time and self-care (nurturing yourselves) on all levels—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. You will leave feeling empowered to practice the art of self-care.

WHEN: Thursday, August 27, 2009, 8pm – 10pm EST (Mark Your Calendars)

RSVP: Add your name and Twitter username in the Mr. Linky box below (e.g. Your Name: Stacey, Your URL: http://twitter.com/CreateaBalance). Be sure to follow everyone else on the Mr. Linky list and/or in the comments section.

#HASHTAG: Twitter using the hashtag #RENEWAL.

Prizes and Swag: Of Course! I’ll be giving away prizes throughout the party.

More About Self-Care

Renee Trudeau writes about the different levels of self-care in her book Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life

“Physical Care
• Be kind and loving to your body—appreciate your body.
• Nourish your body by eating healthy and energizing foods that make you feel great.
• Get enough sleep and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
• Exercise to replenish your energy and manage stress.
• Take time to enjoy, nurture and appreciate your physical appearance.

Emotional Care
• Have a heart-to-heart with a close friend or mentor.
• Have kind, loving thoughts about yourself (try no criticism for one week!).
• Seek out support from a therapist, coach, social worker or counselor.
• Journal—write down your feelings and thoughts.
• Go on a fun date alone or with your partner or organize a monthly girls’ night out.

Spiritual Care
• Take time to be by yourself to think or write.
• Take a walk in a park or out in nature.
• Meditate, pray or just reflect on what you’re grateful for.
• Do something creative: paint/draw/write/dance/sing.
• Volunteer for a cause you’re passionate about.

Mental Care
• Read a good book or see an intellectually stimulating movie.
• Learn a new hobby or skill.
• Sign up for a class, group or workshop on a topic that is interesting to you.
• Challenge yourself within your community or at work to learn something new”

Remember… Add your name and Twitter username in the Mr. Linky box below (e.g. Your Name: Stacey, Your URL: http://twitter.com/CreateaBalance).

  • woah that things pretty cool!

I think im gonn ahave to do that on my blog 😀

  • Marci – Yippee! Thanks for being the first guest to RSVP to my party. Looking forward to Twittering with you on Thursday evening.

  • I really need this!!!

  • Stacey, I have to apologize that I typed in the wrong link inside linky. I hope it catches the right info now. I am not sure if I can be available at the specified time but I will try.

I just shared this on my facebook account and thought I may as well post it to inspire all of us here too…

“The first step toward change is acceptance. Once you accept yourself, you open the door to change. That’s all you have to do. Change is not something you do, it’s something you allow.” — Will Garcia

  • What a great idea! But sorry, I messed up on my first link (#8), #9 is correct, are you able to fix? Thx! – lisa

  • Have a great time, everyone! (I just can’t get into Twitter – I can’t follow what’s going on – sigh)

  • Hi Stacey!

What a wonderful idea!!! The self rejuventation you speak of is so important, especially today where there is so much to do it seems, and so many people suffer from burn out.

Well I am not a mom (yet), but I will try to stop by, otherwise have a fun time! And I always encourage to make healthy “me” time – this adds so much value not only to your own life, but to the life of all those around you 🙂

  • Michele – I think all moms can really use an event like this. I think self-renewal parties and/or self-renewal meetings should be as common as weight watcher meetings (that is my ultimate goal).

Evelyn – Hope to see you on Twitter Thursday. Your insight always gives me a new perspective on life.

    Lisa (mommymystic
) – I’m not sure how to fix Mr. Linky yet. No worries about the list.

Robin – Thanks Robin. Your support means the world to me.

Evita – Yes! There is much for us to do as moms and we can suffer from burn out if we are not careful. My oldest son is starting kindergarten next week so my new challenge is to start balancing the world of elementary school into my life!

  • I just signed up for Twitter. So I just log in and I will be following the party? Sorry, but I’m a brand new Twitter person…as of today…because of your party.

I may be a bit late due to school activities, but I will swing in as soon as I can.

  • One other question: Do I click to follow all the other links as well or do the responses from others show up under your twitter? I know you must busy, but if you have a chance to do a quick rundown on how to participate, I’d appreciate it.

  • UGh! I forgot to check time zone. I missed the party.
