Save the Children Indonesia

I’m Heading to Indonesia

Tomorrow, as a proud member of Mom Bloggers for Social Good and the Global Team of 200, I will be traveling to Indonesia to cover how Save the Children’s programs are reducing mother + newborn deaths and how they are supporting critical health services provided by frontline health workers.

Using social media, my hope is to take YOU and the America public along on this trip with me. As part of Save the Children’s Every Beat Matters campaign, I will be sharing real-time tweets, Facebook updates, blog posts, stories, photos, and videos during my trip to help raise awareness among the American public of the key issues related to mother and child survival in Indonesia.

I am so grateful and honored to have this opportunity to raise my voice for children in need and to be part of a global social good movement that demands we increase access to lifesaving care for all children.

I hope you will follow my journey and help me raise awareness by sharing my tweets and Facebook updates.

SAVE THE CHILDREN INDONESIA

I’ll be interviewing, and sharing personal stories from, Save the Children staff, frontline health workers, mothers, children, mother group facilitators, and community leaders. I’ll be connecting with Indonesian mothers and children that truly are in need of greater access to lifesaving health services. I’ll be meeting frontline health workers who are dedicating their lives to providing lifesaving care to these vulnerable mothers and children. And I’ll be learning how the leadership and investments by the US government (USAID) continues to make a real difference in saving the lives of mothers and children.

It’s hard to believe I’m really leaving tomorrow. It’s overwhelming to think about everything I’m about to experience. My heart is cracking open just thinking about the mothers and children I am going to be meeting. And it’s taking my breath away thinking about being with frontline health workers and local leaders who are working so diligently to support mothers and children in their communities.

Again, I hope you follow my journey and help me raise awareness by sharing my tweets and Facebook updates.

Every day, the hearts of children under the age of five stop beating, mostly from preventable and treatable causes like pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and birth complications. These unnecessary deaths are unacceptable.

Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy, happy and able to reach their potential. No parent should have to suffer the unnecessary loss of a child.
