Returning to Your Center

Have you ever had one of those parenting moments that changed the course of your life? In the video above, I share a profound moment that occurred with my son 10+ years ago that changed how I looked at self-care and self-love tools as a parent.

This has turned into one of best self-care tools I use… and now I’m teaching this along with other simple, powerful, foundational self-love tools in a new learn-at-your-own-pace online course called Raising Children to Love Themselves.

It can be so painful in those raw moments when you’re stressed and trying to get your child to do something. In this video, I share a powerful self-love tool you can use when your children are melting down and you need something to shift the struggle and return to your center.

What Do You Need To Receive Right Now?

One of the best self-care tools I have ever used, personally and with my children, is the power of slowing down and asking my Inner Wisdom one simple but transformational inquiry…

“What do I need to receive right now?”

Or when talking with my children… “What do you need right now?”

TRY THIS! Do this the next time you’re feeling cranky, crabby, stressed, pressured, drained, tired, mad, guilty, etc…

1. Connect with your Inner Wisdom. Close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, take a deep breath, and ask your Inner Wisdom “What do I need to receive right now?” Keep breathing until the answer comes. It may come in a word, a sound, a picture, or a knowing.

Note: If you haven’t been talking to your Inner Wisdom, it may not answer at first. That’s okay. Just choose what you would love to receive. As you begin to show up for yourself, your Inner Wisdom will eventually start showing up for you.

2. Receive the Wisdom. Whatever it says, you MUST make sure you receive that today. It’s often simple like love, hugs, peace, a nap, a walk, a yoga class – it’s the simple but little things that make self-care happen and keep your life force energy full. You don’t need to take off to Tahiti for 7 days or hire a personal chef to replenish.

3. Promise to Give Yourself What You Need. Throughout the day, remember what you need and give it to yourself. If you find yourself getting crabby, cranky or feeling drained again, remember what you need to receive and give it to yourself.

Watch the video above to see how you can use this tool with the children in your life!

After you try this tool, for yourself or with your children, leave a comment below letting me know how it worked for you!
