Thanks to the Detroit Jewish News Foundation, I found this amazing article from 1945 about my dad’s heroic acts in World War II. The Detroit Jewish News archives are truly a golden treasure.
What amazes me the most about this story is the fact that my dad – a sweet Jewish 18 year old boy from Detroit – was in GERMANY during World War II fighting against the Germans. It is mind boggling to think while my dad was in Germany, as a United States soldier, Jewish men and women were either on the run for their lives or in concentration camps.
I will always and forever be daddy’s little girl.
