I just returned from the Type-A Mom conference with so many new ideas for my blog and with so many new blogging friends. For me, the Type-A Mom conference was a perfect venue to help me think about how I want to grow CreateaBalance.com. I believe in the core of my being that my blog has only just begun (yes, I’m now humming cheesy music from the Carpenters).
Although I did not have a sponsor for this conference, I want to acknowledge ReviveYourLife.com for sponsoring me for the BlogHer09 conference. BlogHer09 gave me the conference bug so I probably would not have gone to Type-A Mom if it wasn’t for ReviveYourLife.com. Checkout their newest post that includes a list of downloadable podcasts for workouts, pilates, yoga, and meditation.
Lessons Learned
So I sat and listened and brainstormed. I talked and networked and brainstormed. Below are some blogging lessons I want to incorporate into my social media strategy going forward…
1. Build a collaborative/social/multi-blogger component to my blog via a forum, ning, magazine format, etc (format TBD).
2. Develop guiding principles on how to support collaborators (VIP PR opportunities, etc).
3. Write my blog’s disclosure statement (see Chris Brogan’s as an example).
4. Create strategic partnerships with PR contacts.
5. Finalize my blogging portfolio.
6. Get vlogging (thanks Danielle, from Extraordinary Mommy, for your encouragement).
7. Follow local people on twitter and schedule a tweet-up.
8. Spread social media kharma far and wide.
9. Share my social media knowledge with others.
Inspiring Connections
I had the opportunity to meet amazing women. A can’t name them all on this post, but the ones that inspired me the most are listed below (start following these women on Twitter if you are not already following them).
Note: I had dinner Friday night with the amazing women in the photo above…@KadiPrescott, @PoshNicole, @JessicaKnows, @momdotrocks, @Mktg_Mama @ilikeitfrantic , @StacieinAtlanta, @blueviolet, @PinkAndPosh, @rockandrollmama, and @savorthethyme.
