“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven…”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Have you ever gone through a period in your life when you’ve felt like nothing is going right? Physically, you feel “off” but there’s nothing really wrong with you. You’re surrounded by people yet you feel all alone. Your finances are so messed up that you’re robbing Peter to pay Paul. And you feel spiritually disconnected to the point that you’re wondering if He’s out there and if He is, why isn’t He hearing your prayers.
That’s the season I’m going through right now, which has made it difficult to write my post for The Mom Renewal Project. I felt like I had no words of encouragement to offer you ~ no tips for pulling yourself up out of the doldrums. Then I realized, this is exactly the right time that I should be writing this post. You see, The Mom Renewal Project isn’t a one way street where I and the other contributing writers lead and you follow, it’s a place where moms can share ideas and connect with one another and encourage each other to keep pushing forward.
I know that this season will end because my bible tells me that there is “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance…” (Ecclesiastes 3: 4). And it is only through the rain that we learn to appreciate the sunshine, so you tell me, how do you encourage yourself to keep going when you want to give up?
Is there a poem that lifts your spirits?
Do you have pictures that bring a smile to your face?

Your words are right on, life is full of various seasons. Some take us to the moutain tops, others keep us in the valley longer than we prefer to be there.
This too shall pass! Timely and honest post, good job!
Big, BIG hugs to you, Daenel. You are not alone. I’m feeling much the same way, myself. Am pulling all the tools out that I have from past experience… perhaps I should write about it. 😉
Hang in there! My thoughts are with you…

@Kelly Thank you so much. You’re so right, “this too shall pass.” I used to blow that off as a statement given when people didn’t know what else to say, now that I’ve “experienced” life (translation: gotten older), I know how honest and true that statement is. Everything passes, all that counts is what we learn from each season in our lives and how we handle ourselves while we’re waiting for the bad to pass.
@Dawna Hugs back to you. Definitely write about what is going on (as much as you are willing to share) and how you’re dealing with things. Writing can be so cathartic.
Best to you both.

When I lean on my mom’s shoulder, she always tells me “this too shall pass”. One of my favorite songs that lifts me up is Long Time Sun. You can watch the video here: http://momrenewal.com/may-the-long-time-sun-shine-upon-you
and here are the words…
“May the long time sun shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light that’s within you
Guide your way on”
Loving this dialog.
