Daphne over at Joyful Living encouraged me to sit down and write out my personal creed. Inspired by my word of the year (light) and the words of Marianne Williamson, my personal creed represents my true life calling.
I am light.
My purpose is to let my light shine,
to shine light on others,
and to give people permission
to do the same.
Having my own personal creed has given me a new sense of calmness. My heart grows larger every time I read it.
What are you offering the world? Daphne’s suggests that sending your personal creed out to the universe makes our world a better place to be.

Hi Stacey,
I read your words here tonight – and feel they speak the truth from your soul. You indeed are a light in this world – you shine brightly – and these words echo the image you represent daily – the image I’ve watched and been pulled in by – light shining for many to see – for me to see. And be brightened by…in many amazing and wonderful ways!

Stacey,
You have a beautiful creed. I feel lighter just reading it! I love how you include giving others permission to let their light shine. This is a very empowering creed.
I’m so glad you found the exercise useful and that you feel uplifted each time you read your creed. Our creeds truly ground us don’t they? Thanks also for the link love.
Shine on Stacey!

I love your words Stacey. I was once asked to write the words I would want on my tombstone. Whilst this was a strange exercise to complete, it really made me think about what I wanted from life.
Here’s what I came up with:
She brought fun and love into our life’s. She shined her light to make us smile.
Everyone has the ability to shine. Not everyone knows how to release the light.
Hi Stacey – What a great picture and lovely personal creed. I’ve also been reading Jenny and Evelyn’s and I feel inspired to write one too.
Robin – I’m already teaching my children the lesson of letting their own light shine. Watching them shine encourages me to fly.
Wendy – Thank you for sharing your precious words (they made me smile).
Cath – I’m looking forward to reading your personal creed.
I love reading these personal creeds because they really dip into the soul of the poster. This creed is beautiful- a life lived by this creed will result in perfection. Thanks for sharing Stacey!

I like your creed – it’s congruent and authentic.
I’m still trying to find a nice one liner. It was help people improve the quality of their life as much as I can as long as I can. Lately I’m leaning towards something simpler — help people make the most of what they got.

Hi Stacey, I love your personal creed. It not only speaks about what it does for you but also what it means for the people around you. By fully being yourself and daring to shine you give the others permission to be who they are and thus to shine as well. We need to show and share our ‘qualities’ or our ‘special gifts’ even if by doing so we step out of the mainstream. You give others the permission to do so by giving the example. Great !
I haven’t thought about a personal creed for myself before but I like the idea a lot. Previous internal travelling has enlightened my internal drive to learn in depth about who I am and what that means for my surroundings.
The poet in me only needs to put this in a creed : )

J.D. – I love your new one liner. I know you have helped me make the most of what I have.
Hilde – My creed is a reflection of my life calling, which includes authentically serving others. I am trying to share my gifts and look forward to what is still to come down the journey of life. I look forward to reading your personal creed.
Marelisa – I knew this was the right photograph for this post the moment I saw it!
Hi Stacey
Great the way you have linked these ideas.
Some wonderful personal creeds came out of Daphne’s post and I absolutely love Lance’s idea for the “word”.
Your creed is a wonderful affirmation of your core being.

Off the top of my head, I think with regards to sharing my music, my creed is “No Doubt.” As in, being confident to keep going ahead and being me. I have been in the place before where I’ve compared myself to others – and we all know that only serves negative purposes.
So, No Doubt! I am just fine as God made me. And let my light shine too. 🙂

I don’t have a written creed, but I do have a mission statement. It is “to empower, educate, and seek justice for children.” I get excited each time I read it.
It’s powerful to seek out words that inspire. Thanks for sharing.

Stacey,
I love the concept of a personal Creed. Yours is especially great. Thanks for sharing yours. I have always had a mission statement. I’m not sure how the two concepts differ unless one is what you do and one is who you are. This gives me something to think about.
Oh this was fun! Here’s mine:
I am secure
And in my security I am free to love and laugh.
And in being so
I create space for others to love and laugh.

Urban Panther – Yeah! I love your personal creed. Just reading it created space for me to laugh and smile.
I do love that picture – anything in nature really hits home for me! And the light you shine…on everyone’s path, showing them the way. The picture and creed work very well together!

Stacey,
I loved your personal creed! I especially liked that you chose a word and the creed developed around that word. I sort of copied what you did because the word that’s been floating around my mind is OPEN. Therefore, here’s my creed:
I am open to…
people who challenge me to think
trusting that I will always find my path
members of my tribe
messages from my intuitive self
and believing in myself.
Thank you very much for inspiring me to think about my personal creed and writing one…I like reading mine:~)
