AMAZING.

Two months ago (mid-December) I wrote a blog post titled Bringing Soul to Soul Sisterhood to Philadelphia, where I basically wrote a vision to ignite The City of Sisterly Love in Philadelphia in 2020.

So you can imagine how amazed I was when two weeks ago, Philadelphia City Council unanimously voted to change the city’s nickname from The City of Brotherly Love to The City of Sisterly Love in honor of the 100-year anniversary of women’s right to vote and to celebrate the strong contributions women have made to Philadelphia’s history.

This change in the city’s identity was sponsored by Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson (who is the youngest woman ever to win a city-wide Council seat). This re-nicknaming is a collaboration between the City of Philadelphia and VISIT PHILADELPHIA.

“This is not about erasing men. It’s about lifting up women during this monumental year. Because we don’t have to put someone down to lift someone up,” said Gilmore Richardson.

YES!!!!! I’m beyond ecstatic that Philadelphia is now known as The City of Sisterly Love.

As a women’s empowerment coach, I have passionately been desiring to be part of a larger initiative to ignite The City of Sisterly Love here in Philadelphia but I never knew where to start. So again, you can image how excited I am!

I’ve already reached out to the City of Sisterly Love team to see how I can possibly partner with them and support this effort.

I’m a full YES to being part of this initiative, either as a partner or by somehow joining the City of Sisterly Love team to bring this year-long celebration into form!

I’m curious to see how this will all unfold.
