Take back your life today! You deserve it.

In my Risk Taking Can Set Your Free post, Julie from Random Meanderings left us a powerful comment that I felt at the core of my being. She said…

“…the biggest risks I’ve taken were the ones with the greatest reward. The thread that ran through all my riskiest moments?…I was exposing my me to the world, putting myself out there, allowing myself to be vulnerable.”   ~ Julie from Random Meanderings

So here I am! I’m exposing myself, putting myself out there, getting way out of my comfort zone to introduce you to my Take Back Your Life Video Experiment.

Enjoy the first Take Back Your Life show, which is titled Assessing Your Actions.

This is your moment!
I just published my first video blog!
If you liked it, I think it deserves a serious Stumble!

What are you doing to take back your life?

What can you learn from your experiences?

What choices are you making to help you reach your goals?

  • Congratulations on your first video blog! Well done!!

I heard Jack Welch speak about life balance as life choices, and it really is. Make your choice and accept it. Use it to learn for the future.

  • So adorable. I really like those popups too! It was so entertaining that I missed the “what” of the video 😉 – but I will watch it again. That is a serious compliment 🙂

  • Stacey!!!!! That was SO cute, and so honest and a great lesson. Very nice, and you look great on film. The camera likes you!

Sweet video post Stacey!! I’m impressed with your tech-savy abilities!! The pop-ups were hilarious as well – reminded me of the pop-up videos on VH1 back in the day! It’s true what you say, move past those mistakes as you learn and move on. No point in dwelling the past!! When does the next video come out??

  • Congratulation on your first video blog! It is good to see the “real” you, hear your voice, and I admire your courage to put yourself out there, so to speak!

  • Hi Stacey: I enjoyed your video debut 🙂 I also like the phrase “choice management”, and I agree that we need to learn from our mistakes and then just move on. Six more pounds to go to reach your ideal weight, excellent!

  • Hey Stacey! I loved the whole nose thing (I think I would have missed it – except for your gentle reminders!!). Like Marelisa, I like the term “choice management” – we can manage our choices, and that does relate to how we balance everything in our lives! Very well said Stacey! And that we were able to see and hear it – the video blog – even more awesomeness! You are the princess of cool today!!

  • @Stacey Shipman – I’ll have to check out what Jack Welch has to say about life balance. Thanks for the tip.

@Maya – Thanks. It was exciting to put myself out there and take the risk of posting it online.

@Wendi Kelly – Gee, thanks. After months of procrastinating I finally did it! It feels great.

@J.D. – I used my flip to film the video, uploaded the video file to YouTube, and then added the pop-ups using YouTube’s annotation tool.

@Jen Phillips – Thanks for supporting me in my efforts. The pop-ups remind me of VH1 too!

@BC Doan – Yes, it did take courage (and months of building up the courage). Now I can’t be stopped. Now there is only room for improvement.

@Marelisa – I’d love to create an elearning class around choice management in 2009.

@ Lance – Thanks for the burst of laughter that I had this evening as I read your “princess of cool” comment. You are hilarious and your support is priceless.

  • Hi Stacey. Well done! I really enjoyed the pop-outs too. They were a good illustration of that inner critic we all know as the saboteur. 🙂

  • LOL Stacey, the pop-up comments were great! I am SO into the illustration of using the WW website, their tools are the greatest. But seriously, 40 points on Chinese food in one sitting? You go, girl, for owning up to it. You’re only -5 for the week, think of that. 🙂

    Stacey,

Boy!!! Talk about getting out of your comfort zone, you have gone a long way girl since leaving Louisiana.

It was great; I look forward to the next one…love the pop-up comments.

  • I thought that the wiping of the nose was quite cute for being so natural!

What can you learn from your experiences?

That you can only learn from experiences, either your own or others.

What choices are you making to help you reach your goals?

At my present stage of life, none. There is really no need.

Are you self sabotaging? And if so, why?

    Occasionally yes. Fear of failure.

  • @Davina – Thanks. You’re video was an inspiration for me.

@Betsy – I hear you. With a few days of exercising I can make up for the extra 5 points. I have been really good ever since my Chinese food break down.

@Melinda – How do I miss you? Let me count the ways. I miss you so much. Thanks for checking out my video post and for commenting. It means the world to me. You know it was you that I thought of when I put my wedding dress on again after losing all of my baby weight. I miss you and my good old southern days!

@Rummuser – Thanks for sharing. I did not plan the nose wipe.

@Sheila – Thanks for the words of support.

@Jack / Simple Sapien – Thanks for subscribing to my YouTube account. I promise there is more to come!

@Barbara – Thank you for your words of support and for the stumble.

  • Oh Stacey – it was wonderful! The popups were so funny and clever! You are brilliant! (I know I use too many exclamation marks, but that was an exclamation mark kind of post!!!!!!!)

Robins last blog post..Bloggers’ Recording Project

  • Hi Stacey – What a brilliant first video. I loved how you had the little pop up messages. And it was too funny when you wiped your nose.

This has given me a lot to think about. Since my summer vacation, I’ve eaten so much crap and I do feel guilty. But after watching this I feel like I can move on from that and start being healthy again.

While you’re hanging on to that guilty feeling, you’re still kind of giving yourself an excuse to carry on with the bad behaviour.

  • Hi Stacey, the best example of your subject matter is thge very fact you went forward with the video, then poked fun at your nose to illustrate letting go of mistakes. Cleverly done and inspirational–it doesn’t get any better than that.

  • @Robin – Thanks for all of the exclamation marks!

@Cath – Thank you. I’m hoping to continue to provide insight with humor in my upcoming video blog shows. I know you will be able to put those poor eating choices behind you and move on the healthier pastures.

@Kip – Thanks. Now I’m already thinking of my next video blog show!

@MizFit – Thank you for the inspiration. Watching your videos gave me the courage to create my own.

  • Hi Stacey,
GREAT job! Congrats! Making a video was a fear I had to conquer too but once you do it is so very empowering and what an important message to share! Thank you and I look forward to seeing more!
    Love,
    Jenny

  • @Jenny – I agree. Now that I am empowered from creating my first video, I’m ready to take on the video blogging world!

  • Eddy

    Hi Stacey:

Congradulations on your risk. I look forward to more of your videos. In my wonderful with words should I say it looks like you have a nose for this.

  • Stacey,

I absolutely loved the pop-ups. And what a fear to conquer ! How does it feel ?

  • @Eddy – Thanks for the support and the pun!

    @Avani – It feels great!

  • Laurie

Looking at life as choices gives you power. Instead of seeing the world as happening to you, you have more power over it by choosing your responses to things that happen. I am still working on this. It’s more difficult when certain buttons in me are pushed.

  • Hey Stacey… I came by earlier and viewed your video. This is a brave move. I could not speak on camera like that. You really did an awesome job. It was nice to place a voice with a face. This video left me in a positive mood after a Thanksgiving feast.

  • @Laurie – Thank you for commenting! I agree, I’m all for choice management.

@Tammy – It was brave and fantastic. I highly recommend posting a video!

  • Stacey, Thanks so much. You rock! “Just be yourself” is the message that comes loud and clear to me. And what a topic to talk about…weight! Something everyone can relate too! Simply brilliant!

  • @Tess – Thanks. The next one is coming soon!
