Evolving Windows (DIY with Blinds.com)

Thankfully, Blinds.com has taken me under their wings to help me with some DIY projects around my house. I love the idea of improving my house…and doing it myself…but I’m also realistic enough to know that I need someone to hold my hand along the way.

I first started working as a Blinds.com brand ambassador a few years ago when my husband and I installed our first set of blinds in our master bedroom. I was a bit leery of measuring, ordering online, and installing blinds by ourselves…and was pleasantly surprised to realize the entire process was a lot easier than we expected.

So when Blinds.com launched their new and exclusive Face2Face online design consultation services, I was thrilled to step up to the DIY plate to replace the old shades in my kitchen and basement.

Here are the easy steps I took with Blinds.com for my new shades…

Step One: Schedule Your Free Face2Face Decorating Consultation

I scheduled an online virtual appointment via Skype with one of the Blinds.com designers. Before our appointment, I emailed photos of my windows to the designer so he had a sense of size and surrounding colors.

Step Two: Virtually Meet with a Blinds.com Designer

This was amazing. Using Skype, I met with one of Blind.com’s designers. I was able to show him my windows and the colors surrounding my windows (e.g. the color of my kitchen cabinets, color of the walls, etc). I also measured my windows during our meeting so he could narrow his search and recommendations based on the specific measurements of my windows.

Step Three: Imagining New Blinds Using Blinds.com’s Window Shopper App

After our consultation, my Blinds.com designer used the photos I sent him and Blinds.com’s Window Shopper App to show me a few samples directly on my windows.

Step Four: Receive Samples in the Mail and Choose Your Blinds

After my designer showed me some samples using the Window Shopper App, he sent me samples in the mail based on his recommendations. This really helped me narrow in on the style and colors I wanted for my new shades. It wasn’t overwhelming, because a professional designer helped me with the majority of my decorating decisions.

Step Four: Install Your Blinds

Within a few days, my new shades arrived with easy to understand directions. Here is the start-to-end video I created showing you how easy it was to install our new shades. At 1+ moments during the process my husband wasn’t sure it was all going to work out, but you’ll see in the end…the shade fits perfectly!
