Don’t forget to RSVP for this Thursday’s #NaturalBeauty Twitter Party, sponsored by Nature’s Basin.
It’s been 10 days since I’ve returned from BlogHer 2010 in NYC. My head is still spinning, ideas are still skyrocketing out of my head, and my mind is still running a million miles a minute. In my post-BlogHer state of mind, there’s so much to do, so many people to contact, so many ideas to blog, tweet, and share. Ten days later and I still honestly don’t know where to start.
I’ve tried writing this post BlogHer10 blog post several times and each time I tried, too many thoughts were fighting for my attention that I had to calmly step away from the computer.
And then, I eventually did what I sometimes do when I need to get focused on building structure for my wild and unstructured thoughts…I headed over to http://www.chrisbrogan.com for some blogging inspiration.
While I was hanging out with Chris’ words, I bumped into one of his blog posts titled Things To Do After a Conference. Even though he wrote it in 2007, I decided it had the perfect structure for my busy mind and tired fingers. His structure includes the following six themes…
- Handle your business cards
- Send a few emails
- Fulfill any promises
- Connect via my social software accounts
- Search blogs and add comments
- Post your media
So, inspired by Chris Brogan and all of the amazing people I met at BlogHer10, here is my post-BlogHer 2010 recap…
- Handle your business cards – When I was at BlogHer, I started taking digital pictures of some of the business cards I received so I would not have to manage all of the paper cards. Since then, I have scanned the rest of the business cards so I can access them from my computer. Some of my favorite business cards were from Tania at ChickyChickyBaby, Theresa at Rock on Mommies, and Morgan at The 818.
- Send a few emails and tweets – There are so many people behind the blogs and the brands that I still want to reach out too (so many people, so little time). Since BlogHer, however, I have connected with many new faces such as Ellen at Love That Max, Sandie at Urban Mama, and Esti at Primetime Parenting.
The people I met behind the brands asked me to wait an extra week to contact them, to give them time to regroup from the BlogHer swirl, so I’ll be reaching out to them this week.
Many of the bloggers I met wanted to participate in the 40-Day Inner Mean Girl Cleanse, so I will also be inviting them to become Self-Love Mom Ambassadors and inviting them to sign-up for the free 40-Day Inner Mean Girl Cleanse.
- Fulfill any promises – I think this was the hardest item on my list because things were such a blur right after BlogHer. One of my promises I fulfilled was announcing this Thursday’s #NaturalBeauty Twitter Party, sponsored by Nature’s Basin (one of my BlogHer10 sponsors).
Some of the other promises I’ll be working on this week, relate to reaching out to brands I want to work with and sharing inspiring blogs and businesses I heard about with my Inspiring Social Media Moms Network.
- Search blogs and add comments– Chris Brogan recommends searching on the event you’ve just attended and commenting on as many blogs as possible mentioning the event (only if you have something specific to add to the conversation). He says this is another way to remind people of our meeting and a great way to stay connected. I haven’t had time to comment on BlogHer 2010 recaps, but I have read recaps from…
- Post your media– I’ve also been a bit slow publishing all of my photos, but can find some of them on Flickr.
I’d like to add two more things to Chris Brogan’s list of Things To Do After a Conference…
- Thank Sponsors – I’d like to thank all of my sponsors again for sending me to BlogHer10. Feld Entertainment, Inner Mean Girl Reform School and Nature’s Basin inspire me to have more fun more often, to embrace self-loving habits and to live naturally.
I’ve been wearing natural and organic beauty products on my face ever since Nature’s Basin decided to sponsor me. I’ve learned so much from them and really enjoyed sampling so many of their natural and organic products from great quality brands.
- Thank Party Hosts – I’d also like to thank all of the hosts that sponsored parties I went to at BlogHer 2010.
Thank you Ralph Lauren and Mom Central for hosting the Ralph Lauren party
I attended and for the beautiful Ralph Lauren products I received.
Thank you Sketchers for the amazing Shape Up
shoes I received and the power walk to Central Park!
Thank you MomTrends and iCandy for the gorgeous salon party.
I loved being pampered by the makeup artists and hairstylist.
Also inspired by Chris Brogan, if you are a new visitor to this blog, please consider subscribing for free updates. I’d love for you to stay part of the conversation so we can all start putting ourselves back onto our priority lists. .
I love Chris’s advice. How very smart. I wish I’d read it earlier. And thanks for the shout out! 🙂
